Why stay in Orlando

Orlando is the shortest commute to the parks and the widest choice of homes, which matters more than people expect when you are travelling with small children or grandparents. Twenty minutes saved each way is forty minutes a day, and across a week that is most of a park day handed back to you.

It is also the easiest base if you are not doing parks every day. Restaurants, shopping, golf and the airport are all close, so a rest day does not mean a long drive to do anything.

The trade-off is straightforward: you pay a modest premium over Davenport or the outer Kissimmee communities for that convenience. For a short trip it is almost always worth it. For a two-week stay with a hire car, it may not be.

Drive times from our Orlando homes

DestinationDrive time
Walt Disney World~15-25 min
Universal Orlando~15-20 min
SeaWorld Orlando~15 min
Orlando International (MCO)~20-30 min
Disney Springs~15-20 min
Port Canaveral~60 min

Our Orlando homes range from three-bedroom townhomes to twelve-bedroom villas, most with a private pool and many in gated resort communities with on-site water parks, restaurants and gyms.

Getting from the airport to your villa

This is the part that catches people out. A family of six with luggage needs a large vehicle, and a rideshare that size costs considerably more than the standard fare people budget for — and the price moves with demand, which at an airport means it moves exactly when every flight lands. We run our own transfers at a fixed price: $125 per vehicle from MCO to Disney or Lake Buena Vista, up to eight passengers, fuel and child seats included. Billed separately from your stay.

What to do in Orlando

The parks are the obvious answer, but Orlando has considerably more than that — and after three straight park days, most families want the alternative.

Orlando questions

How far is Disney from your Orlando homes?

Typically 15 to 25 minutes depending on the community and which park gate you are heading for.

Do we need a hire car?

Not necessarily. If you are doing parks most days, our transfers plus park drop-offs often work out cheaper than a rental car plus parking at $30 or more per day per park. If you plan day trips to the coast, hire a car.

Is a private pool heated?

Most of our Orlando homes have a private pool, and heating is available as an optional paid extra rather than on by default. Florida evenings cool the water more than people expect from late autumn through early spring, so if you plan to swim outside summer we recommend adding it. Ask when you book and we will confirm the nightly cost for your specific home.
