Why stay in Miami
Miami is the trip you take when nobody wants to queue for a rollercoaster. Beaches in the morning, Cuban food in Little Havana at lunch, art in Wynwood in the afternoon and a neighbourhood you have never heard of for dinner. It rewards wandering in a way Orlando does not.
It also works well as a second leg. Several days in the parks, then a few days at the coast to recover before flying home.
Choosing a neighbourhood
South Beach
Beach, Art Deco, restaurants and nightlife on your doorstep. Busiest and priciest.
Brickell
Downtown, high-rise, good food, easy transport. Better for a city trip than a beach one.
Wynwood
Art, murals, breweries and independent food. Younger crowd, less beach access.
Coral Gables
Quieter, leafier and more residential. Good with children.
Key Biscayne
Beaches and parks, calmer water, a short causeway from the city.
